HANDKNIT CANADIAN ZIP CARDIGAN WITH MULTI COLOR PATTERNS
Pickup currently unavailable
This cardigan is knit in 100% organic sheep wool. The weight of this cardigan is around 2,5 kilo's and has kept its natural lanoline which makes the cardigan water repellant. The cardigan is round knit (so no disturbing side seams) and has a beautiful rounded collar. The pockets in the front panels are knitted in and the elements used in the patterns refer to Canadian camping life. The bear on the back is a widely used bear warning for wild fires. The cardigan closes with a metal zipper on the front. By the nature of using 100% wool and the weight of the jacket, the cardigan makes a great alternative for an outerwear jacket. The colors used on this jacket are dark grey melee, light grey melee, bear beige, dark brown and red. In respect to the Salish people from the Cowichan Valley of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, only THEIR designs and crafted items are called Cowichan. Their history runs back to the turn of the last century when European settlers introduced them to knitting techniques. To this day, many Salish knitters sustain a living by knitting their original patterns.
You can keep this garment a piece for life by once in while hanging it outside overnight and having it naturally cleaned by dew. In case of more serious cleaning needed we suggest dry cleaning. Pills form when individual wool fibres rub up against each other and felt into small balls on the surface of the fabric. It's a natural and inevitable occurrence, and doesn't indicate any defect. Simply gently remove pills with your fingers or a commercial de-pilling device.
